HEALTH PROJECTS
- One unit – one sewa project : Sewa project means adopt one village ( for health related activities) / health project should be taken by each NMO Unit. Each unit will do the service of providing free medical camps.
- Eye donation project, blood donation project –To provide help to blinds with help of other helping organizations working ion the same field, To motivate doctors as well as other youths to donate blood on requirement Each NMO unit should prepare a list of volunteer donors.(Eye and blood)
- To look after people participating in the religious journeys (pilgrimages) like Shabrimala journey, Dakor journey and local religious functions, etc.
- Tribal welfare. To provide health related assistance to people, living in tribal areas with the help of Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram. Medical students / doctors are going to tribal areas and doing the medical checkups and also distributing medicines. Permanent health projects in form of hospitals have been started in many tribal areas with help of Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram.
- School Health Program : Medical checkups of school children. maintain all records and do periodic analysis to find out health related problems in school going children.
- To organise each year, national level conference of the allopathic doctors and medical students and to analyse medical education system and health needs of the people of our country and prepare a strategy accordingly. Also to try and attach as many doctors as possible in this mission.
- Dhanvantri Yatra; Aim is to motivate doctors and medical students to reach the needy people where hospital services are not available, with help of other like minded organisations organize heath check up camps in tribal areas and provide medicines according to need. Medical students / doctors should go to tribal areas in the Dhanvantri Yatra and do the medical checkups and also distribute medicines. Presently we are organizing Dhanvantri Yatra in North East region in month of April – May, (Minimum 10 days Yatra)
ENHANCE MORAL VALUES AMONGST MEDICAL STUDENTS
- Gurupurnima festival; To organise, ‘sneh milan’, in the medical colleges on Aashadli Purnima. To use this programme to give respect and regards to teachers.
- Dhanvantri Jayanti; on the occasion of the birthday of Bhagwan Dhanvantri, to take an oath to get attached and closer to the golden historical era of our country (To celebrate it as National Doctor’s Day)
- Welcome to new students; At the time of admission of new students, the new students are being welcomed by the medical teaching fraternity and senior students: ‘Charak Shapath (oath)’ is taken to get attached to the golden past of our country and to move forward on the path of ‘Desh Seva (service to the country)’. Through this, we wish to discourage the social evil of ragging in which new students were mentally and physically abused.
- Swami Vivekananda Jayanti (National Youth Day, 12 January): on the occasion of Swamiji’s birthday, various programmes are organised to make the medical students and doctors more aware about the life and achievement of Swamiji.
ACADEMIC ACTITIVIES
- To organise seminars in different subjects.
- To organise seminars and meetings, to make the medical students and doctors aware about the latest techniques and experiments being conducted.
- To organise special coaching classes for the medical students to help them to through the exams with ease.(professional as well as PG Entrance examinations)
- To organise various programmes for the all round development of medical students.

- To organise meetings of doctors and organise discussions on the various social and professional topics.
- To Organise meeting of office bearaers and members at unit/state as well as national level to discuss issues related to our activities.
- Training camps to train the members for organisational activities.
- To organise ‘Chintan Shivirs’, to evaluate our various programmes.
- To organise seminars on local, state and national levels.
EMERGENCY SERVICES
- Our volunteers are always in the forefront to help the people in the event of natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, malaria and drought and also in the event of manmade disasters like rail accidents. For example,
- During Kachch – Gujarat’s earthquake of 2001, we looked after more than 2 lakh patients for 6 months and also performed 10 thousand operations.
- 100 doctors provided full-time services during 1993 Latur earthquake
- Provided emergency services during Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
- In the most difficult situations during the Morbi Machehu Dem Collapse in 1976, provided services day-in-day-out.
- Services during the devastating Cyclone in the Andhra Pradesh in 1999.
- Looked after people during the Falciparum Malaria epidemic in Radhanpur and Mandal (Gujurat).
SWADESHI AAROGYA MELA
- To encourage and safeguard the interest of local medicine manufacturing units from multinationals.
- ‘Swadeshi Apnao, Desh Bachao’ (Use domestic items to save the country) was declared a central programme.
- To use Swadeshi Aarogya Mela to bring about understanding amongst the various medical pathies of India, so that they are more useful and practical.
NMO JOURNAL
- NMO journal is a bilingual magazine in Hindi and English which is published by the central office three times a year (every four months). This multi-specialty magazine is sent free to each member. This magazine also carries invaluable materials to help the medical students. Members can also send their articles to be published, to the central office by post or by email.
NMO SAMVAD
- Published once every four months, it provides the details of organisational activities to all members.

- Many members of NMO are today providing their services to various other countries. Our organisation make sure to utilize their educational and economic capabilities to be used in the best possible manner to enhance the society and country. This body will ensure to spread our culture and its advantages in many other countries. It will also ensure to eradicate the bad influences of the western culture through Yoga and concept of family by explaining the advantages of these to the people of other countries.
